SIP dialer: dial from your browser or any softphone using a real number

One SIP account, any device you choose.

Short answer: A SIP dialer is any software that places or receives phone calls over the internet through the SIP protocol. SMS Conecta gives you two ways to dial: a browser web dialer requiring no installation, and per-number SIP credentials for softphones such as Zoiper or MicroSIP and PBX systems such as 3CX or FreePBX. Whichever route you take, your real number is what shows as caller ID.

A standard SIP account rides along with every SMS Conecta number. Pick up the dashboard dialer, a softphone of your choice, or route it into your company PBX — then forward calls to whichever phone you're near when you step away.

Up and running in three steps

  1. Create a new SIP account inside your softphone or PBX.
  2. Copy over the server address, username and password shown on your number's dashboard page.
  3. Save it. Incoming calls to the number now ring that device, and outbound calls go out showing your number as caller ID.

What exactly is a SIP dialer?

A SIP dialer is any application that registers to a SIP server using a username and password, then relies on that account to send and receive voice calls over the internet. It might be a browser page, a desktop or mobile softphone, or a PBX serving an entire office. The phone number sitting behind the account determines who you appear as when calling out, and where incoming calls land.

SIP, short for Session Initiation Protocol, is the open standard behind most internet telephony, which explains why one set of credentials works across so many different products.

Web dialer: calling straight from your browser

The fastest way to place a call is the dashboard's web dialer. Open it, select any of your numbers as caller ID, grant microphone access, and dial. Since nothing gets installed, it works equally well on a borrowed laptop or a locked-down work computer.

Call logs show up in the dashboard right next to the SMS inbox, keeping calls and texts for every number in a single place. A headset gives the best audio, and a wired or stable Wi-Fi connection serves long calls well.

  1. Sign in using your email and open the web dialer.
  2. Pick the number that should appear as caller ID.
  3. Grant the browser permission to use your microphone.
  4. Type the destination including its country code, then press call.

Getting a softphone running in five steps

Maintain just one active registration per number if predictable inbound calling matters. Need calls reaching an ordinary phone too? Use the dashboard's call forwarding, which can forward to any phone.

  1. Purchase a number from any of 181 countries; most go live within minutes of payment.
  2. Open that number's page and copy its SIP username and password.
  3. Install a SIP app, say Zoiper, MicroSIP or Linphone, or open your PBX admin panel instead.
  4. Create a new SIP account pointing at the server sip.smsconecta.com with those credentials.
  5. Run a test call, then dial your own number from a different phone to verify inbound ringing.

What comes included with each number

  • Unlimited incoming calls plus unlimited incoming SMS.
  • 1,000 outgoing minutes and 500 outgoing SMS every month.
  • SIP credentials, the web dialer, call forwarding, an SMS inbox and call logs.
  • Two-factor authentication and a sign-in audit log.
  • Starting at $1.80 monthly billed yearly ($21.60 per year), backed by a 7-day replacement guarantee and a 7-day money-back guarantee as long as the number hasn't been used.

SIP dialer versus softphone versus predictive dialer

A softphone is one flavor of SIP dialer: an app a person uses to place calls manually. A web dialer is that same idea, just running inside a browser. A predictive or auto dialer works differently; it dials through lists of numbers on its own and hands answered calls off to agents.

SMS Conecta is neither a predictive, power nor auto dialer. What it provides is real numbers, SIP credentials and a manual web dialer. Contact-center software like VICIdial can register a SMS Conecta number as a carrier, with any automatic dialing then coming from that software, bound by whatever rules apply to you.

Troubleshooting

  • Registration failed (401/403): username and password don't match. Re-copy both from the number's page, watch for stray spaces, and make sure the server reads sip.smsconecta.com.
  • One-way or missing audio: usually NAT. Turn on STUN in the app, try TCP transport, and let the app's RTP ports through your firewall.
  • Calls go silent or drop instantly: a codec mismatch. Turn on G.711 µ-law (PCMU) and A-law (PCMA) and move them to the top.
  • Menus ignore keypad presses: switch DTMF to RFC 2833, or SIP INFO if the far side requires that instead.
  • Browser dialer produces no sound: check the site's microphone permission and the input device you've selected.

SIP dialer — FAQ

Is any installation required to place calls?

No. The web dialer runs right inside your browser. Installing a softphone is purely optional, for anyone who'd rather use a desktop or mobile app.

Where are my SIP credentials located?

On each number's own dashboard page. Every single number carries its own SIP username and password.

Which caller ID shows up for the person I call?

Whichever SMS Conecta number you picked in the web dialer, or the number whose credentials your softphone or PBX is using.

How many minutes come included?

Each number carries 1,000 outgoing minutes a month plus unlimited incoming calls, starting at $1.80 monthly billed yearly ($21.60 per year).

Does SMS Conecta function as a predictive dialer?

No. It supplies the numbers, SIP credentials and a manual web dialer; any automatic dialing you need comes from separate software connected over SIP.

Can emergency numbers be dialed?

No. Emergency calls are not supported, so make sure another phone is available for emergencies.

Does the SIP account offer encrypted signaling?

Yes, TLS on port 5061 is available for SIP signaling. SRTP media encryption, however, is not offered.

What sets SMS Conecta apart from one-time SMS-code services?

One-time code services lend out a number just long enough for a single verification code, then pull it back. SMS Conecta numbers, by contrast, are yours to keep for as long as you keep renewing, complete with incoming calls and SMS, SIP credentials and a web dialer. SMS Conecta isn't in the business of selling one-time codes.

Is an API available?

No. Instead, every number ships with SIP credentials, letting it work with softphones, PBXs and dialer software — the setup guides at smsconecta.com/integrations walk through this.

Is card payment an option?

Payments go through as USDT or USDC stablecoins on Tron, BNB Smart Chain, Polygon, Base or Solana. Cards aren't among the listed payment methods.
